Give us what we really need

@sovol3d We don’t need a clone of thingverse or printables.

We need CURATED printer/process/filament profiles for Orca.

We need instructions on flashing MCU firmware BEFORE new products ship.

We need a wiki that has consistent information across printer models

We need all the missing info posted to GitHub to meet the requirements of your claim to be 100% open source.

All good suggestions.

I’d add support for legacy printers. The SV08 is a great printer that offered a lot of outstanding features at an excellent price. It has two well documented flaws that prevent it from achieving its awesome potential.

  1. The thin aluminum bed warps.
  2. The 8 mm proximity sensor doesn’t produce an accurate bed mesh that Klipper needs to compensate for the warped bed.

These issues have been known since soon after the SV08 launched. Sovol knows these are issues because they corrected these shortcomings in the Zero and SV08 Max. Sovol is actively developing a version of the SV08 that corrects these shortcomings, possibly to be called the SV08 Ace.

I don’t expect Sovol to fix these problems and retrofit the existing fleet of SV08 printers for free. I bought the SV08 as is and I knew that Sovol cut some corners to make the Voron 2.4 manufacturable and cost effective, so I wasn’t surprised that they cut a bit too deep in cost reducing the bed and mesh sensor. I don’t expect free upgrades, but the revenue from the SV08 funded the development of the Zero and SV08 Max. The SV08 owners should at least be able to purchase the upgrades developed for subsequent printers. SV08 owners feel a bit like neglected red headed step children.

I kindly urged Sovol to produce the Eddy tool head for the SV08, and it’s been a very long time coming. Sovol is a relatively small company and needs to keep the focus on generating revenue, and selling fixes for past problems isn’t as profitable. The SV08 Eddy tool head is apparently in the European warehouse and will be in the US warehouse soon, but it’s waiting for the upgraded firmware. I’ve been waiting all summer for the Eddy upgrade. It’s taken so long that I’m now probably going to wait another 2-3 months and upgrade to the Bondtech INDX multiple tool head system which will also have an Eddy tool head. I already spent $250 on the R3men graphite heated build plate. I’m going to have an awesome tricked out SV08… a year after purchasing it.

Welcome to the bleeding edge of technology.

As far as I know, the Eddy tool head is not yet available in Europe.
