Are there any plans to update the firmware on the SV06 ACE? It has been static for some time. The open source software used has moved on, but in its vanilla format it is not compatible with Sovol products. Can Sovol provide a new firmware version with the current fixes and updates?
As long as the firmware runs smoothly, Sovol has little reason to change anything. So you should write a list of specific issues you’re experiencing with the firmware. For example, the remote control of the camera’s LED. That might influence Sovol’s opinion.
PLR has been broken for 3 years and the Max still ships with the same broken plr.py as my SV07.
During the Zero roll out there was considerable development work. In EVERY other case nothing seems to get fixed let alone bring klipper up to date and benefit from the Klipper team’s improvements.
I think Sovol outsources all software “development” to some other company (MKS?). Their agreement doesn’t seem to include “codebase maintenance”.
I don’t see a problem. Why bother with something others can do better? MKS supplies the electronics and the firmware. The only issue I see with Sovol’s open-source approach is that MKS doesn’t release parts of the display firmware. This prevents users from adding missing features themselves (like remote LED control). Okay. There’s a solution for that now. But not thanks to MKS, but in spite of them.
