Factory BTT eddy probe upgrade status

Any status on when this will be available?
I’d much rather use a factory SV08 upgrade than mainline and upgrade.

Status = “soon”

Same as it has been for 6 months.

I watch the Sovol live streams on YouTube on Wednesdays. Ben is in marketing, and he was getting this question every week. He answered “soon”, then “very soon”, then “very very soon”, then another “very very soon”, then he said probably the middle of August (that’s now) and last week nobody asked him for an update because patience is a virtue?

Sovol has been busy with the launch of the Zero and SV08 Max, and they’re now working on the new and improved SV08 (the SV08 Ace?), but they have committed to the much needed Eddy tool head upgrade for the SV08.

In other news, Bondtech is targeting November for the release of their multi-filament INDX tool changer system and one of the quick swap tool heads is an Eddy probe. My SV08 has been down for repairs all summer and I’ve stubbornly refused to install mainline Klipper and an Eddy probe. Maybe I should just keep using my Zero and then give my SV08 an INDX upgrade and a new R3men graphite no-taco bed. I think the inductive heating on the INDX will print TPU better, and I print a lot of TPU.

To extend Liberty4Ever’s note, Ben stated on the weekly stream August 20th (21st? stupid time zones) that the new SV08 toolheads are in transit to the local warehouses, so they’re already stocking up on these parts.

The official firmware linked from their downloads page is still from December 23, 2024 though and that will need Eddy support before the upgrade will work. Seems like we’re currently waiting on software rather than hardware.

I’m also eagerly awaiting test results on the INDX upgrade - zero-clearance supports and comolded TPU hinges, seals, and grips open up some exciting design possibilities!

I had intended to post the minor news on the SV08 Eddy tool head in this thread after last Wednesday’s Sovol live stream. Here it is, in Ben’s own words, time stamped for your convenience. :smiley:

Basically, the updated SV08 tool head has an Eddy sensor and is shipping to the local warehouses, and Sovol’s sales team will update the Sovol website when it’s available for purchase.

I agree that the new tool head will need new firmware, so presumably they’re working on that while the parts are on the proverbial slow boat from China.
