That’s the exact question I’ve been pondering.
From the Sovol live stream comments when the Zero launched, the Zero and the SV08 Max were co-developed and from the early Sovol marketing video shorts on YouTube the last couple of days, the SV08 Max seems to have the same CanBus extruder as the Zero so presumably the same Eddy probe as mentioned in the linked article. I’m hoping Sovol isn’t relying on the accurate Eddy probe bed mesh to have Klipper compensate for a 2 mm bed warp across the 500x500 mm bed. I hope they used a thicker cast aluminum bed or something else that resists warping, and maybe provide an easy way to manually tension the bed so it warps to a relatively flat condition. The article does state: “The SV08 Max has a thick hotbed with an 8mm aluminum surface. It also has a 1300W heater for even heat. This stops warping and gives you reliable prints every time.” This is encouraging. Apparently Sovol learned a few lessons from the SV08. 3D printing technology just keeps improving.
I’ll hold off on purchasing the SV08 Max until I see some bed meshes. As my wife has already mentioned, I need to clear out a decent sized pile of junk to make room for a printer that large. When the Zero arrived, I tossed the Neptune 4 Pro on top of the SV08. :-o
This also caught my eye: “The Smart Feeder System checks the filament flow to avoid clogs or tangles.” That sounds like a great improvement. It seems as if there are a few improvements to the SV08.
