Disassembling the extruder completely

Hi everyone,

as you can see in the screenshot, I’ve disassembled my extruder to this point. However, I’m currently stuck: I can’t separate the motor housing from the black clog shown in the photo. Everything between it is loose but these two parts wont come apart.

I somehow need to separate the big black clog (that is connected to the smaller metal clog that is feeding the fillament when assembled) from the housing of the motor. If you have a look at the detailed photo that shows a screw sitting inside the metal housing of the motor, and I don’t know how to loosen that.

Many thanks

Best regards

Phil

You have to flex the plastic gear enough to get the shaft out of the bearing. There is a screw head behind the bearing.

I think when new the shaft was free to slide in the plastic gear… But after a hundred or so heat cycles it gets stuck.

Fortunately it is easier to put back together.

Thanks for the answer. Do you mean applying force here? Direction of the arrow.

I don’t know anything about the S4, but I would use a small flathead screwdriver in the 2 places I marked.

Hi,
Why don’t we ask @Bjoern?

Hi,
Maybe it’s because I’ve never had to take one of my extruders apart this thoroughly before…
Here’s a discussion on Reddit that might offer some insight.

I use a pair of straight tip tweezers. One tip on either side of the shaft. Slide in until they wedge between the gear and bearing then push on the end to leaver the gear away from the bearing.
