About three hours into a 9 hour print I noticed poor extrusion. After removing the nozzle, I discovered it was partially clogged.
Now I’m wondering about cleaning filaments which I have found advertised. Does anyone have experience with these, and are they worth using?
Hi,
After using PETG, it is best to clean the nozzle.
I use a special cleaning filament for this.
I say yes also.
Mostly when you downgrade a filament…ex ASA to PLA, PETG to PLA.
So anything you print at a high temp & then go to a lower temp.
If you don’t want to use cleaning filament, then purge at least 300mm.
With cleaning filament you purge until the filament comes out clear.
If you already have a clog, you can use it for cold pulls.
I usually set the hotend to 10* hotter then the filament I used before.
ex…if I was using PETG at 235*, I would use the cleaning filament at 245*-250*.
Cleaning filament is kinda of expensive, I use a filament brand called “ZIRO” and it comes with a bag of cleaning filament (so I have a lot of it).
So for the prince of just cleaning filament, you can get a roll of ZIRO.
