Chamber Heater SV08 Max not working

I got the chamber heater and installed it. It doesn’t seem to work for me. When I plug it in, the red on/off switch is not lighting up. Is that expected?

The chamber heater for the Max was released before the Zero chamber heater…
I see no mention of the light in the Max Manual, but it is mentioned in the Zero Manual.

But then how would I know it is powered? It doesn’t seem to give me any indication. I can switch on and off and nothing indicates it is on or off. When I try to switch it on in printer.cfg it doesn’t seem to be recognized. What is a good way to debug this situation?

If you’ve done everything right, all you should have to do is set the number in Blue & the fan should come on. Set the Target higher then the Current.

Unfortunately I don’t get that far. Just uncommenting the line in printer.cfg doesn’t work. I suspect the heater not working … but how can I verify that it works or doesn’t? Is there a fuse in the heater? Maybe that is blown?

Hi,

Thank you! I will email them.

I see the Max chamber has a separate mains cord.

Yes there is a fuse under a snap in cover right next to the plug receptacle.

Is the plug at the heater end fully seated? Try swapping it with the printer cable? Will the printer power up using the cord that shipped with the heater?

Good points … I will try those.

No, the switch should light up. If it still doesn’t, then the heater should not be receiving power. Try checking the plug, fuse, and switch connections again. If everything works and the indicator still doesn’t light up, then it’s more likely that the device is faulty.

Any news on the issue?
I have the same problem. Power switch doesn’t light up and heater is not working. Should the power switch light up as soon as the heater is switched on, even when the printer is off? Would make troubleshooting easier.

Is the chamber heater line in the mainsail UI only showing when the heater is powered on? I don’t see it but then should show up if I get the power issue fixed.

Still waiting for the next reply from SOVOL. I checked the fuse and double checked that no light is on … I also used a different power supply cable just in case.

@sovol3d

How many wires are in the CAN harness?

The heater has it’s own MCU and should cause a “cannot connect” fault if it is not powered up (and [include chamber_hot.cfg] is un-commented)

It is likely powered by the mainboard as that would eliminate the need for a 5V supply in the heater.

I’m still unsure whether the power switch should light when switched on. The identical looking switch on the Max is not lighting either when switched on and the printer is working.

I have to admit the issue with my chamber heater was an user error.

Because the printer is in the garage due to its size I‘ve had used my iPhone to edit printer.cfg. Today I’ve checked the file again this time from my Mac and to my surprise printer.cfg still had the line that enables the heater disabled (# in front). I‘ve changed it and chose save and reboot and immediately the chamber heater became available in the mainsail UI.

Walked to the garage and the heater was working.

And I now can confirm there is no light in the power switch both on the chamber heater and the printer.

Is it time for an upgrade?

be sure to select “red lighted” not the black.

Ok. I found the problem. It was my fault. Turns out you can connect the “Communication cable 1” leading to the mainboard incorrectly. You must carefully examine where the latch fastens. Just did that and now it works

The installation video doesn’t show the challenge here …
