I had a print going, after examining the first layer I decided to cancel (there was a problem with how it was sliced, no printer issue here). The process flow when you cancel a print is it pauses, then it asks you to confirm that you want to cancel, then it asks you to re-print (if I’m not mistaken, I’m having issues right now as you will see and cannot verify this is the exact process flow). I accidentally selected to re-print the print when I didn’t want to. I then tried to cancel again and shut the machine off. I may have shut the machine off a little early or perhaps using this reprint function is problematic, but either way when I rebooted I’m now in a boot loop. The light (on the gantry by the camera) will come on, following by the screen coming on with the SOVOL splash page, then the light shuts off and the screen shuts off and it keeps repeating this.
I’m assuming my firmware is borked at this point and have reached out to SOVOL for help, though I don’t expect an answer right away due to the time difference. I doubt anyone here has any recommendations as I’ve found no information on manually loading a firmware file, or even where I would find a firmware file. There is an instruction for the sv06 ace which I think uses the same board, but this requires using a jumper on a couple pins on the main board, which I don’t presently have. I figured I’d start this thread in case I was lucky and wrong, and someone does have advice, or alternatively to post the fix from SOVOL when they do get back to me. I do hope it doesn’t require a jumper. I did have the board on the toolhead fail and it took two weeks for that to show up, so I’ve had a lot of time without my new printer lately.
I’ve enjoyed the printer, but the failures are quite frustrating. I very much hope SOVOL has a simpler method to flash the firmware on this printer that doesn’t require parts as this seems like it could be a huge delay for some people and be a somewhat technical fix. I’ve also seen other reports online of the toolhead board failing and am concerned this is a poorly made board that will need regular replacement (and what happens after they stop manufacturing it?). This printer is a bit of a mixed bag for me.
