Bed leveling sensor needle temporary fix

Well my BL sensor started dropping mid print for some reason and caught the print and broke messing up the whole print and broke the needle!

I’ve ordered new needles and a new BL sensor because this one has never been right but I tried everything to get back up and printing without having to put the Z axis switch back on. I tried to drill the needle to install a fine nail, I tried glueing I even tried to build it up using a 3d pen but nothing would stick that would allow it to retract!

Then I remembered I have some small heat shrink and tooth picks and I pushed the heat shrink up over the nub trimmed the toothpick down and slid it up the heat shrink then heated!

It’s far from perfect but I think it’s strong enough to get me printing again.

Mainly posting this here because I couldn’t find any other quick fixes online and hopefully it’ll pop up on Google for someone and get them up and running again while they wait for parts

forum wouldn’t let me add picture in the last post for some reason this is before I install it then I’ll cut it to length with snips at the correct height

If you ordered a new one, why bother with all this if it never worked right in the first place..??

It did work but it wouldn’t complete the UBL verification step just sat in one place pumping filament, I think it’s more a firmware issue but 5 needles are £5 and a complete sensor was £11 (and better brand) so i ordered both to have spare to test
