Print quality issues - ringing

They finally released it:

SOVOL Zero calibration of the hot bed

I guess I have something to do later today.

Looks like a newer version of the printer as the spool holder is on the side instead of the back as in the V1.0.

It could just be a print, it’s what I did.

It’s not. Look where the spool holder is attached. There’s no print and there aren’t any screw holes in that location in the model we both have. The Z rail and it’s aluminium extrusion profile however is behind that spot which would explain where it’s been now attached to.

Mine was fine, I didn’t have to make any adjustments.

I think that as long as the height map looks L/R flat, maybe irregular but L/R reasonably flat, there’s no need to go through this.

Thank You – to those who contributed to this thread (OP, Cardoc, and Vergo). I had gone through calibration and still had significant print quality issues. Correcting belt tension and re-running input shaper/resonances made a significant improvement. I had trouble with the app, so used a 3d printed analogue tension meter (here). Good Luck.

Ringing/ghosting issues are often tied to vibration and motion settings, so the suggestions about belt tension and input shaping make sense.

One additional thing that can help is running a simple test print after each adjustment instead of changing multiple things at once. This makes it easier to see exactly what improved the quality.

Also, try printing a test pattern with straight lines and sharp corners, as these usually make ringing more visible. It’s a quick way to confirm whether the changes actually reduced the vibration artifacts.

If you want a quick reference, using a test print page or pattern can help you consistently check print quality after each tweak.

That way you can compare results step by step instead of guessing what worked.
