I had a PLA failure that wrapped up around my hotend and I didn’t catch it. Trying to get the hot end off I pulled these wires on the plate the hotend mounts to. Can anyone tell me what this is and if I can replace this adhesive that was holding it in place? Don’t want to have to replace the entire extruder assembly if I don’t have to.
So this thing is called hot end strain gauge, it acts as a probe to calibrate z axis and build bed heightmap, It is glued by so called “liquid insulator” or Silastic. You can buy some on Ali. To be honest, i’m not sure if your measurement will be as accurate as they were before if you just glue this thing back and fill it with Silastic, but you can try and tell us)))) Or, you can contact Sovol and ask them for this particular part
Your load cell is totaled.
The actual sense elements (strain gages) are in the area where the plate flexes (red box). The broken connection (red arrow) would be nearly impossible to repair.
@sovol3d The load cell for the 2 Ace printers should be available as a service part in your store.
Thanks @cardoc and @bundemshake appreciate your look into this! I reached out to sovol with pictures and what I thought it was, but will update my email to them with your identification. Agree that this part should be available on the shop!
Sovol responded to my emails this morning and confirmed my address to send a new part. Nice to get it for free, shame about the shipping time. I wouldn’t mind having the ability to buy small, modular parts to have on hand, but is what it is. Thanks again for the help!
