New hot end issue

Hi ya’ll I’ve recently purchased the SV08 Max and I’m trying to make affordable upgrades. I recently purchased the Microswiss Flowtech hotend M3110 and a Diamondback nozel to go with it thinking it’ll just swap in but boy was I wrong. I’m getting a

[MCU ‘extra_mcu’ shutdown: ADC out of range

Sensor ‘extruder’ temperature 32464.791 not in range -0.000:310.000]

reading on the little screen. I think I have to reset the parameters on the code or something but I’m not sure how to go about fixing this issue. I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue and how they solved it?

You need to locate the extruder section in printer.cfg and edit the thermistor settings to match the thermistor type in your new hot end.

I’m curious, the microswiss hot end is shorter than the Max heater. How did you deal with that?

You know… I just noticed that size difference. Thank you for your time, I really appreciate the help. Seems like I was frecking out about something that wasn’t even in my control in the first place lol. I guess I’ma just stay stocked for now.

No worries.

FWIW I designed a spacer to go above the heat sink to use a MS on a Zero (same length as the max) but no one has tried it yet. The wires will (probally) have to be extended and a hole drilled in the mounting plate for the lowest heat sink screw.

The Zero and Max are configured for a PT1000 thermal sensor. You’ll need to swap one into the MS hotend or reconfigure the printer for a standard SV08 thermistor.

If your interested I’ll dig up the files.

That’s really generous of you and I really do appreciate that kindness but right now I’m already behind some orders I want to get to and my tinkering patience seems to allude me. The stock settings I have are already enough for what I need to do, I just wanted to future proof the machine all in one go with no need to worry about cloggs and all that. But thanks again!

Worth having the files for when you do start modifying, though.

You’re better off running it as stock, to start. Gives you chance to note any issues or areas you may need, or wish, to deal with.
