Gantry calibration

How to make x-axis beam perpendicular to y-axis?
When I pull x axis fully forward there are no the same gaps (but 1 mm different) between blue parts on the left and equivalent ones in the right hand side.

Hi,

First of all, have you tightened the printer gantry correctly?

Yes. I did.
I had no problems for months, until yesterday, when I had layer shifting for the first time. I reduced the acceleration (it was 7000, now is 2222), and checked belt tension - it was 128 Hz @150 mm length. I tightened the belts to 138 Hz. And, tightening the belts I discovered unequal spacing on the left and right side. As I understood some instructions for SV08, this unequality should be solved by tightening the screws for the belts adjustment. And it really works - but after the gantry is perpendicular . the tension in the belts is not equal. :frowning:

What to do?

Thx in advance,

Toni

I suggest you send an email to info@sovol3d.com explaining your issue and providing your order number.

If I’m not mistaken the process is:

  1. Slack off the belt tension
  2. Square the gantry
  3. Tension the belts
  4. Verify gantry is still square, of no goto 3

You can follow the Video for the SV08 belt tension adjust. Use care the length of belt you “twang” is the same is the smaller printer.

How to square the gantry without belts?

I don’t have a Voron type printer but if I did I’d follow

A few of the bolt locations are likely slightly different but the concept is the same.

Quick and dirty with the belts slack push the gantry all to way to the rear. Does either end spring back if you push it back and let go? Adjust it till it doesn’t.
