When will there be native Eddy or Beacon Probe support without switching to mainline klipper?
Watching with great interest
The wiki has an empty entry for Eddy kit now… does that mean it is coming.
That’s a healthy set of instructions there
I found this
I hope it is coming soooooooooon
I want to order this in the US right now! I hope they put it up for sale really soon in the US! Amazon would be even better.
Hi everyone,
Before I decide whether to buy it, I’d like to clarify a few things:
-
Is this kit essentially a way to switch the SV08 over to mainline Klipper, or does it rely on a Sovol-specific firmware again?
-
How is the Eddy probe connected? Through USB, or directly to the mainboard?
-
Does the installation require flashing or other modifications to the mainboard?
If anyone has hands-on experience already or more detailed information, I’d really appreciate your insights!
Thanks in advance!
Me : Any plan to have the Eddy Scanning Kit available to ship in the US soon?
From Sovol :
Next month.
Best regards,

It is defined in the very thorough instructions in the wiki. It’s a very long document.
Just got the set in. Will install tomorrow. You do need to flash the mainboard and the printerboard through a STL-link. And install the 2.4.9 Eddy firmware, which is on the USB drive with the set.
OK, done it, and must say; pleasantly surprised! Bit of a hick up, as my old laptop lacked some dll’s for the ST-link, but found them on the internet and proceeded with the install. No further problems, and it all prints smoothly. Impressed with the first layers; great from the word go! Was struggling before with inconsistent Z-offset, but not anymore! No extra cables, the Eddy probe plugs in on the same pins as the old probe.
Woohoo, finally! Just ordered 2 for both printers, curious for the result
Is it available to purchase in the US yet?
I like the idea of an official Eddy and housing that fits it and the installation procedure is close enough to going on mainline Klipper that it isn’t intimidating. However, I am hesitant to get locked back into Sovol software support. Not the tech support itself but the lack of updates once their focus shifts to a new product. I may buy a kit in case someone does all the hard work and integrates it with mainline. Or I’ll take another stab at using a Duo.
I will do the regular upgrade with sovol firmware on one of the two printers I have, and I will try and distill the needed settings to go to mainline on the other using this kit as eddy sensor upgrade.
Since both need firmware upgrades on both the mainboard as the toolhead, the “extra mile” for switching to mainline seems to be reduced to an “extra foot” in this whole process
