My bed wasn’t level out of the box, it’s about 0.3mm low on the left, probably doesn’t affect much but for my own piece of mind I wanted it somewhat level. I started by opening the bottom and removing the grub screws holding the belt gear to the shaft but even with both screws removed I couldn’t get it to budge, I’m guessing it has locktite on it or glue…
So I came up with a simple spacer to slot under the bed mounting bracket, 0.5mm was about perfect, allowed for some squish, went from this:
For the ignorant of us, why use a spacer under one side rather than taking the tension off the sync belt below the floor and turning the lead screw till its perfect, then tightening it up?
I published this before Sovol published their instructions for adjusting the belt, I initially tried loosening the grub screws holding the gear on the stepper but they must have used some serious thread lock as I felt like I was dangerously close to stripping the screw, didn’t think to release the belt to adjust it though. But either way, this is a simple alternative that allows you to fine tune without tipping the printer over multiple times to adjust it.
