Board was easy to get up and running in Klipper, it already had Klipper firmware on it, so did not need to flash, it is open source and is readily available from numerous sources, and it only cost about £5.50 from Aliexpress.
First plan is to run mcu motherboard fan ( which is always on), an combine it with an additional fan and make them mcu/ host temperature controlled. Got fans controlled on slider for initial test, now need to adjust config for temp controlled. Need to design bracket to hold circuit board and additional fan.
Thats a great idea, a breakout board for klipper is far simpler than repurposing/multiplexing pins off the original printer driver board downstream of it.
If its a part that you’d recommend, rather than merely making do with what you ended up getting, can we grab a link to the listing you used? It can be hard to find reputable examples on Ali, as less reputable stores just copy the image and price but don’t ship the same goods (if they ship anything at all, giving you somebody elses tracking number seems common… I guess it just runs off the idea some people won’t be bothered disputing the payment on very low value purchases).
I’ve updated my original link, with the github for the board, its is an opensource design as part of the Voron printer project. If you search Klipper Expander Board, you can find lots places where you can purchase the board.
