Hi everybody, this my very first post in the forum.
It is also my very first time with my brand new SV08 max, and by extension my very first time with OrcaSlicer. I come from the world of Prusa, which is very different.
I built the printer, no issue with the hardware, didn’t power up yet, I am struggling with OrcaSlicer to have the printer profiles installed.
I download the latest OrcaSlicer from the github (2.3.2 c724a3f5), which came with the SV08 max profile.
I ran the Wizard:
No choice of the nozzle size in the printer choice, is it normal ?
Then I don’t have a choice of a process, only 0.2mm layer height choice
Welcome to Sovol. You’re going to notice a lot less hand holding than Prusa provides.
I don’t have a Max so the below is a “guess”. proceed with caution. NOTE: Prusa slicer is first cousin to Orca (both decend from SuperSlicer). It should be possible to integrate the Max into that work flow if you want OR add the Prusa printers to Orca.
There are MANY forks of Orca floating around. I’d recommend you.
Uninstall Orca completely (Yes if it asks to delete profiles)
Install Orca from the USB Sovol provided (No to import profiles, Yes to Overwrite)
Optional - Upgrade Orca to the latest you uninstalled above (yes to import, no to overwrite)
That should give you many more profiles to choose from. Be aware the profiles Sovol provides are not as “mature” as Prusa profiles. It is likely additional tuning will be needed.
I guess ignorance CAN be a blessing, lol. I was unaware that there was any way to get profiles, other than creating them myself. I just started with generic ASA and tuned it till I got a good print. Save the changes by renaming the profile. The only problem I’ve had was with overheating the host, which I solved by putting a hole through the table, directly under the fan. I still haven’t figured out how to get the chamber heater to come on at startup. But, if I set it manually, it works like it should.
