Setting up a new SV08 MAX, the initial startup went ok, it homed correctly, no problems.
Then I updated the firmware using the menu on the touch display. That appeared to complete successfully, updating to mainboard 2.1.9.
After that when homing, It acts like it’s not seeing the nozzle pressure sensor anymore. The nozzle pushes into the bed and doesn’t stop. I had to power down to make it stop.
I wanted to verify that the config files that I have were correct for firmware 2.1.9 but I can’t find a download for that version.
Brand new unit (purchased in November, opened this week as Christmas gift). Initial setup and homing looked fine, calibration said it passed, but on the first real print the nozzle digs straight into the center of the bed and scratches across it. It acts like the nozzle pressure / Z sensor isn’t being detected at all. I had to power it off to stop it.
Frame and A/B axis look level, nothing obviously mechanical. This really feels firmware-related. Your description after updating to 2.1.9 matches what I’m experiencing almost exactly.
Would love to flash down to to something older but not sure how. Definitely not just you.
In typical Sovol fashion the firmware is only available at the (semi-secret) OTA link. You should be able to force a OTA reinstall from the Sovol UI on the touchscreen.
The Z offset is determined using the eddy sensor. As the eddy moves closer to the bed the output frequency changes at a steady rate. When the nozzle touches the bed there is a momentary fluctuation in the eddy output.
Power down your printer and make sure both ends of the cable to the eddy are firmly inserted. Several users have reported loose connections, likely due to vibrations during shipping.
