I’m a nerd who in the 1990s realised that he didn’t want to do technology as a Job; it was a passion and working at it any longer would spoil it.

It’s taken me quite some time to get round to 3D printing, but it’s a natural outgrowth of messing around with Linux (compiling kernels of Slackware on a 4MB Pentium 75Mhz) and setting up original generation R Pi.

I have to admit I love my SV07 Plus, which I’ve heard characterised as a tinkerer’s FDM printer.

For me it’s more about the printer than the printing. I got a really good deal on the SV07 Plus, and it’s everything I could ask of it. I’ve tightened up bolts, backed up the emmc, ssh’d in to adjust settings, connected a webcam, played with Mainsail and Fluid, Connected via Cura, updated to 5.9 and am now slicing and exploring options in Orcaslicer.

I’ve found a community of people who are actively trying to help each other succeed, and am crawling my way up to the shoulders of those who have gone down this path before.

Oh, and somewhere in there, my family has grown and I’ve discovered I’m not as young as I used to be!
