One would HOPE the X axis rail extends far enough past the build plate to allow either tool to be parked without blocking the other.

Might this actually be a really good solution for Orca Full Spectrum CMYK printing? The fixed nozzle can be the Black, and leaves options for support materials etc.?

Hello @sovol3d[I saw that a new topic has been created for this.](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/sovol-m1d/10109)
Summary:

> The community discusses the announcement of the Sovol M1D, the world’s first IDEX tool-changing 3D printer, featuring a 300x300x350 mm build volume [1](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/1). While [3dRikal](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/7) expresses hope that Sovol remains committed to open source and avoids the proprietary pitfalls of competitors like Bambu, [cardoc](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/8) and others raise significant concerns. They cite Sovol’s history of failing to release their modified Klipper source code as required by the GPL, alongside past hardware issues, urging the community to withhold pre-orders until these transparency issues are resolved [16](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/16).
>
> A major point of contention is the inclusion of IDEX technology. [HandyDoodads](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/11) and [cardoc](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/14) argue that IDEX adds unnecessary cost, complexity, and maintenance burdens compared to a refined tool changer system. They question the utility of IDEX features like mirror and copy modes, suggesting they offer limited value for most users [13](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/13). [HandyDoodads](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/17) further details their specific needs for annealing and multi-material printing, concluding that the M1D’s footprint and design do not align with their priorities.
>
> Conversely, [mich0111](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/15) suggests waiting for the printer’s release before passing judgment, while [Lion](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/12) notes the enduring popularity of Sovol’s previous IDEX model, the SV04. Despite the skepticism regarding software compliance and hardware design, users like [MikeHides](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/10) and [Parker2007](https://forum.sovol3d.com/t/-/10109/18) express cautious optimism and curiosity about the new machine’s capabilities and lighting features.

To wrap things up here, I have one more question. The image shows a casing and a hood.

Unfortunately, neither is visible on the linked pages. This makes me hesitate a bit. Does the M1D come with an enclosure? Is it included or optional? Before interested parties sign up for the “VIP offer,” it should be clear what the offer includes. The fairing is an essential component of the functional scope.

> Sorry for the late reply. If I don’t respond for a long time, you can @ me again. The current price of $1399 does not include the enclosure. The enclosure will be sold as an accessory. Our price will be adjusted to $1299 later, and the VIP price for those who pay a deposit will be $1199.
