If you don’t use the Bowden tube and instead feed filament directly into the extruder, there is no PTFE tube to support the extruder cable and it’ll droop down, get caught between the gantry and left rear pulley block, and crash the printer when it tries to home the Y axis, causing an error and grinding the timing belt as the timing pulley slips. This clip on cable support fixes that problem.

Thanks @Liberty4Ever, works perfectly, keeps the cable away from the motor!

Cheers,
-Mike

It’s so green! 😝

I saw yesterday where someone used a cable tie in the same location, but I’m always looking for stuff to CAD and 3D print. My Zero is currently printing a compact keeper for my set of seven hex bit shank masonry bits to save space in my small Milwaukee M12 hammer drill tool bag. When that’s finished, I’ll print a slip on cover for the set of six spade bits to prevent the sharp points from poking stuff rattling around in the bag. I’m spending this winter optimizing my life instead of living my life. :-/

LOL it is bright, the PETG Lime Green is for old eyes and dark tool bags holding various connectors. Makes it easier to see things while I’m fishing around the bottom of the bag.

Wanted to fix the cable before printing the next part 😂

Cheers,

-Mike

For curiosity…because you changed so many settings… I tried to use your 3MF file, but it just didn’t work for me. I couldn’t get past the first layer, so I just used mine.

Maybe I shouldn’t supply a 3mf file. I was assuming the Zero self calibrates so the bed adhesion should be the same for everyone, and simply changing the filament profile when changing to a different material would produce good results quickly. Maybe I’m not doing anyone any favors?

There is enough surface area that the part prints well on my Zero without a skirt or brim.

I should probably reprint my extruder cable support using ABS without carbon fiber so it’s not so abrasive on the cable jacket, and maybe smooth that edge with acetone, but it was easier to wrap the cable with two layers of electrical tape. 😃

Using the chamber heater it printed at 53c.

Looking for the White roll of ASA, I found a roll of ASA-CF that I forgot I bought from Black Friday 😁

I forgot to say I printed it in ASA.
