# Sovol SV06 firmware is erased

This issue occurs with both firmware versions 2.0.0 and 2.2.0.
When powered on, the screen turns white, and reinstalling the firmware fixes the problem.
This means the firmware is erased when powered on.
This problem occurs when booting with an SD card inserted.
Not occur if start the printer with the SD card removed.
This problem requires me to reinstall the firmware several times a day. I just need to make sure the SD card is removed at startup…

After you flash the firmware rename the .bin file by adding .old to the end.
Verify there are no other files with .bin as the extension. The bootloader is supposed to ignore the .bin file last flashed but additional .bin files could trigger the flash process.

Thanks for the advice.
Adding “.old” is for firmware that has already been written to the SD card, right?
If I erase the firmware on the SD card after a firmware update, that’s not necessary, right?
Even if I insert an SD card with only the stl file in it and boot up, it gets erased.

If a blank SD card still causes the issue then your mainboard is having issues.
I’d reach out to @sovol3d at [info@sovol3d.com](mailto:info@sovol3d.com). Include your order number (even if you are out of warranty). It may be possible to reinstall the bootloader and stop the firmware from being deleted. If that doesn’t fix it then as far as I can see you’ll need a new mainboard.

Just delete the firmware file from the SD card after you know it is installed…leaving it on the SD Card is why it’s keeps installing after every re-boot.

Thank you everyone.
I wrote that the problem occurred even with an empty SD card, but when I formatted the SD card using a non-quick format, inserted it into the SV06, and powered it on, the firmware wasn’t erased!
Deleting files or quick formatting the SD card might have left behind some firmware residue.
If I don’t post any more comments in this thread, it means this is completely resolved.

Make sure the SD Card LOCK isn’t on, this will prevent you from deleting files.
If you can’t use that SD Card, then just buy another.

Is it the lock switch on a regular SD card? The SV06 uses a microSD card, so it doesn’t have a lock switch.
The firmware got erased again today! It happened when I turned on the printer with the SD card I used for printing last night still inserted.

Sorry, I forget..I use an SD Card Adapter.
I would just use a different SD Card, you machine is flashed..there seems to be something wrong with that card…so just use another…JMO

The SD card may contain firmware bootable files. You can reformat the SD card and set the file system to FAT32.
